About Us
Welcome to Merilli Angus— our family farm is nestled in Currency Creek on the Fleurieu Peninsula, where we raise 100% grass-fed Angus beef and deliver it direct to your door.
The name Merilli was first bestowed upon the property by Edward Bate Scott, a pioneering settler and explorer who accompanied Captain Charles Sturt on significant inland expeditions in South Australia. Scott supported Sturt’s 1844–46 Central Australia journey and was described in expedition journals as "the only sportsman of the party"—relying on Scott’s skills to hunt wallabies, pigeons, and ducks to supplement their limited ration. The name Merilli was given to Scott by the Indigenous members of the expedition.
Merilli remained in the Scott family for generations, holding its place on local muster books and maps. In 2002, the Mintz family took stewardship of the land
We believe great beef starts with the land it’s raised on. Our cattle graze freely on natural pasture, with no feedlots, no grain, and no shortcuts. It’s the way we’ve always farmed — slow, seasonal, and sustainable.
Every side of beef we sell is dry-aged, butchered to order, and vacuum-packed — perfect for families, bulk buyers, or anyone who wants real food, raised locally and ethically.
When you buy from Merilli, you’re not just filling your freezer — you’re backing South Australian farming, supporting low-intervention agriculture, and tasting the difference that grass-fed really makes.
We took on Merilli with a clear vision: to raise cattle the right way — on grass, not grain, and with respect for the land, the animals, and the people who eat our beef.
From early mornings checking cattle through to the final cut at the butcher, everything we do is hands-on. We've invested in improving our soil, managing pasture naturally, and raising cattle that thrive without chemicals or feedlot systems. The result is clean, honest beef — slow-grown, dry-aged, and full of flavour.
Merilli has grown with us. What started as a small-scale farm gate project has become a paddock-to-plate business connecting people across South Australia to real food, raised with care. And we’re only just getting started.
